How soon is soon?
March 14, 2012 at 8:30am
We keep hearing “soon” for the upcoming Aion 3.0 patch from NCsoft. I know a lot of people are excited about this release, and I admit that I myself am almost to the point of frothing at the mouth in delicious anticipation!
I noticed an announcement by Nyx posted to the Aion site yesterday which, to me, says that the release date is drawing near as NCsoft is readying their resources:
Greetings Daevas!
With 3.0 right around the corner now, we are preparing internally for the technical side of this huge update! As we make these preparations, we need to lock everything down for a short period of time in order get all of the correct testing done.
Starting immediately, server transfers will be locked. The server transfer queues will not open again until after the launch of 3.0. Starting on Wednesday, 3/21, all other account services such as plastic surgery tickets will be unavailable as well.
This is an important step in preparing the servers and the databases for 3.0. Take this is a positive sign – we are getting close to both Truly Free and 3.0!
Ooooooooooooh, I can’t wait! :D
Also a reminder: if you haven’t already, be sure to login and check your NCsoft account for your free Daevanion set available today to active accounts! You can view the stats and screenshots of this set here on the Aion Game Guide.
Ok, so we’re not doomed …

My apologies for my last post. I know better than to post anything when I’m having a bad day, as it always always ALWAYS creeps into the tone of my post. Shame on me. ^_^
While my initial worry was that Aion going free-to-play would drive friends away, I’ve come to the realization that there are many who will be coming back because of it. Definitely good news for my current server, Zikel, which seemed like a ghost town when I first re-rolled a few months ago. In fact, last night one of the guys from my dreg static said that the beginner area was crowded and that it was the first time in a very long time that he had lag while being in that zone.
Imagine that … lag! In Ishlagen! :D
I’m hoping for a great population boost, and know there will be bigger and better things coming our way. In fact, NCsoft has prepared a few in-game goodies in preparation of the upcoming event. Monday started the Rally the Troops event:
Aion is rallying the troops! All accounts in good standing have been reactivated* for free for 14 days. Reunite with old friends while making new ones during the two-week reactivation period!
You’ll also enjoy weekends of boosted settings, including double XP, a 30% Abyss Point bonus, and a 30% Crucible boost. And if you resubscribe before the reactivation ends, you get a free level 50 Daevanion armor set!
*For your account to be reactivated, your account must be in good standing (not currently banned), you must have applied a retail serial code to your account.
Nobody added a few updates to this announcement via the AionSource forums, noting that this event includes:
- Get more relics and medals! Fortress loot drops are increased.
- Extended free trial: The free trial level cap will be increased to level 40.
He went on to explain this for the free Daevic armor set:
When the reactivation period ends, all paid subscribers get a full level 50 Daevic armor set This will be applied as a code on your NCsoft master account and so you can choose which character gets the set.
Please note that the armor set will not include the title or weapon.
They will use your highest level character somehow to determine what type of armor you get (chain, plate, cloth, leather). Customer service will exchange the armor type if you want to give it to a different character than they mark on the account.
Harley’s already finished her Fenris of course, so I’m tempted to give the free set to MistahJay. I know I want him to have the Fenris armor set, but am not sure yet if I’m going to go through everything for the title and weapon yet. I think I’d rather he finish out his PVP set and get a PVP weapon instead … but, we’ll see. I have plenty of time before he hits 50 to decide. ^_^
Couples Contest canceled
February 16, 2012 at 8:16am
Nyx posted an update on the Aion site last night announcing the Couples Contest for this year has been canceled:
Greetings Daevas!
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will not be able to offer the Couple’s Contest this year. We sincerely apologize to those who wanted to participate. More contests will be offered in the near future, so check back often to see what exciting things are going on!
Sad panda. :(
Oh well, at least now I have a cool screenshot of my Joker and Harley toons together!
Happy Valentine’s Day, Daevas!
February 14, 2012 at 2:58pm

Happy Valentine’s Day, Daevas! I hope all of you are surrounded by those you love, getting fabulous loot in-game, and are having a great week! ^_^
I have a quick update on the 64-bit client issue. As announced last week, NCsoft had quietly implemented a patch removing the capability to use the unsupported patch that many of us had been using. However, Nobody was quick in posting a workaround on the AionSource forums. I haven’t tried it myself, but reports are coming in with some users having no issues, and others experiencing a little more lag than when using the previous workaround. But never fear! I saw a tweet earlier today from Tydaron on Israphel pointing to a reply from Nyx on the Aion forums indicating that 64-bit client will be put back in with the 3.0 release:
After much discussion, we have decided to reintroduce the 64-bit client in the Aion folder when we release 3.0 (ETA is coming soon(tm)!) The most current version of the 64-bit client includes features to prevent much of the abuse that was a major factor in its removal last October.
Things to note:
• This 64-bit client will still be “unsupported.” This means use at your own risk. We are not provided with support for this version of the client, and it has always been designated use at your own risk. If you experience difficulties in running the client, we will not be able to resolve the problem for you.
• The 64-bit client is still considered by Korea as “unfinished” and is not completely tested like the 32-bit client. Because it is not fully tested, you may encountered issues that you would not have in the 32-bit client (quests you cannot complete, UI bugs, etc). While all of these are reported to Korea, we cannot guarantee that the issues will be addressed.
She goes on to say:
The point of bringing it back is that we are listening to what the customers tell us very clearly that they want. There has been overwhelming supporting documentation that people want the 64-bit client available. This is something that we can control and give you, so we are doing so.
What we do not control is what we are given. I can’t magically fix all of the issues that people bring up. This is one that I could fix, so I worked to make it happen.
We have no eta for when Korea will provide us with a “complete” and “supported” 64-bit client.
Excellent news! I’m willing to take this as a good sign that someone actually is listening for a change! Granted a fully supported 64-bit client would be best, but until the time that such a thing is available, I’m cool. ^_^
In other news, there’s a new contest going on to celebrate couples in Aion. (hence the image above :3 ) You can read more about it on the Aion News page. It boils down to taking a picture of your toon and/or with your significant other’s wearing last year’s in-game couples tshirts to enter. According to the contest rules page, 20 winners will be selected to win a choice of 3 Felicitous Socketing Supplements for Fabled Items or 3 Felicitous Socketing Supplements for Eternal Items.
Kind of cheesy, but presented a challenge to me to somehow capture both of my toons together in one shot. (with the help of some Photoshop and carefully placed screenshots of course! LOL)
Also! AionLife kindly reminded me that the Wedding Dress/Tuxedo is on sale (50% off!) in the NCsoft online store, so be sure to drop by if you’ve been looking to buy it!
Love and peace to y’all! ♥
Small start: tracking crafting progress online
January 13, 2012 at 2:33pm
I’ve had a couple requests from people asking me to post what recipes I have on which crafts, so during my lunch hour today, I started on just that. A few days ago I had taken screenshots of each of my toons’ crafting lists and was able to match up the recipes that I currently have with a quick search on Aion Armory. From that I was able to get a semi-complete listing of what I have (and comment out what I’m missing) and link to the corresponding entry in the Aion Armory online database.
So far I’ve only completed Cooking and Alchemy. I’m hoping to have Tailoring and Handicrafting done in a few days, as those are a bit more involved. Plus, I may level up an alt this or next weekend and begin a new craft to take advantage of the on-going Double XP events. ^_^
New event and goodies this weekend!
January 11, 2012 at 10:28am
So I was reading over this morning’s announcement posted on the Aion site and noticed 2 things right off the bat: a new event and double xp and drops coming up! Woot!
- January 11 - February 1: Atreian Winter Festival
- January 11 - January 18: ‘For War and Glory’ Reduced AP Loss Event!
- January 13 - January 16: Double XP & Double Drops Weekend (10:00 a.m. - 9:59 a.m. Server Time)
I haven’t found anything yet detailing the new festival, so I’ll be looking for that. The Reduced AP Loss is always nice, especially for rifting and sieges! :D
But what I’m really looking forward to is the Double XP and Double Drops this upcoming weekend! My spiritmaster is now 35 and I want to get him to 37 sometime this weekend so I can start running Kromede’s Trial. And who doesn’t love double drops??!! ^_^
EDIT: Good news! There’s been an update on the Aion site with more info!
The Atreian Winter Festival features Double XP Weekends for hunting, gathering and crafting with the added bonus of Double Drops! (and we all love drops!!!!)
Double XP and Double Drop Weekends:
- January 13 – January 16: 10:00 a.m. – 9:59 a.m. (Server Time)
- January 20 – January 23: 10:00 a.m. – 9:59 a.m. (Server Time)
- January 27 – January 30: 10:00 a.m. – 9:59 a.m. (Server Time)
Also also ALSO!!!! The Daru Fur Set is on sale in the NCsoft Store!!!! :D It will be available through maintenance, February 1st, so get it now!
According to a tweet by Phenteo, these are one-time use and ARE DYEABLE! :D
I fully plan on decking out my very manly SM with a purple Daru Fur Set tonight! XD
It’s that time of year again
December 13, 2011 at 4:00pm

It’s that time of year again, folks! Our capital cities have been decorated in Solorius fashion, and festive medleys can be heard playing throughout both Sanctum and Pandaemonium as soon as you zone in. Rumor says Santa Shugo will be dropping by soon, and I can’t wait for this year’s Solorius events to begin! ^_^
As seen above, I’ve decked Harleykinz out in some appropriate costume and have been eagerly watching the Aion website for updates. I’ve noticed LOTS of holiday-themed pieces posted here and there on the web. The two largest collections I’ve seen so far are this page on Massively and this thread on the Aion forums!
So how about y’all … Got any holiday goodies to share? :)
UPDATE Dec 14: NCsoft has posted a schedule of the holiday events starting today!
December 14 - January 4: Santanyerk’s Solorius
December 14 - January 4: Crab Fest
December 14 - December 21: ‘For War and Glory’ Reduced AP Loss Event!
December 16 - December 19: Double XP Weekend
More goodies coming our way!
October 13, 2011 at 4:33pm
Wow, NCsoft has once again started handing out goodies to all the Daevas. It’s like Halloween every day! :D
To start, subscription bonuses are being given out which can mean freebies or an instance cooldown scroll for select instances. Next, we have the Dungeon Blitz event where you receive armor and possibly a weapon for running specific instances. In addition to that, yesterday many of us received a gift of gratitude from the Aion team consisting of a metric butt-load of various scrolls and fine power shards. Next we have the Harvest Revel event, which if you were a member last year, means that more goodies are headed our way via easy questing. (oh, and by the way … OMG I WANT THAT WITCH SET!!!! o.O)
If you’re in the mood for some shopping, the Aion online store has been updated with the Lineage II Dynasty armor skins, 5 packs of dyes (black, red, white, and hot pink!), as well as the Aion Digital Collector’s Edition upgrade which earns you additional goodies (wings, dyes, title, emotes!) by itself. Also, many items are half-off, so if you’ve been holding back on a particular item or skin lately, you may want to look to see if its price has been cut! (sale ends November 9)
And don’t forget: version 2.7 is on the PTS and is schedule to hit live next week! ^_^
Picking Up the Past NPCs to stay up an extra week
October 4, 2011 at 9:21am
CC Nyx posted an update on Twitter yesterday letting us know that:

Sweet!
And just in case you forgot which event this was, it’s “the fragments event” where you could get anything from Abyss relics to medals to outfits:
Plant Fossil Fragment Rewards
Animal Fossil Fragment, Silver Medal Box, Gold Medal Box, Platinum Medal Box
Insect Fossil Fragment Rewards
Pouch of Scrolls, Box of Enchantment Stones and Manastones (I, II, or III), Box of Balic Materials, Box of Fluxes, Alluring Box

The event runs until maintenance tomorrow.
Happy Birthday Aion and Daevic Flux!
September 22, 2011 at 10:12am
Happy Birthday!

Wow, can you believe it’s been two years since Aion was released? And it has also been one year since I started this blog. I don’t think I actually planned on it being this day, but just kind of worked out that way. ^_^
The celebratory festivities started a day early in Aion with a quick tweet from Phenteo late yesterday informing us we could get our Inquin pets. Late last night, one of my legionmates noted that the 24-month veteran rewards were already available, so I was able to apply those. If you’ve been playing since Aion’s release, you should be able to get yours too! :D
Here’s a shot of Harleykin showing off her new wings:

While I’m not thrilled to bits about the color, the texture on them is quite nice, as are the stats! ;)
Remember, Daevas, there’s a lot of festivities going on. Be sure to read up on the Aion site to see what you might be missing! ^_^
