New level, new goals
May 24, 2012 at 10:56am
A week ago tomorrow, I dinged 51. Last night, I dinged 55. I happily skipped to Panda to grab my skills, update my stigmas, put on my new wings and PVP set, and started my 55 advanced stigma quest.
What’s next?
I think I’m keeping my Tahabata staff for now. I have the Crucible PVP Level 2 staff, but need to combine it to something … just not sure what yet. I’ve also started grinding out plat medal dailies and will likely continue to work on those so that I can upgrade to the 55 eternal PVP accessories. NOM NOM!
And since my PVP set is full MR, I’ve started thinking about getting a PVE set. (not sure yet if I’ll go full parry, or a crit/parry mix). I’m thinking I need to level up my Armorsmithing on my sorc to make these:

Shiny! ^_^
I have maxed out Harley’s crafting, and still have her aethertapping and essencetapping to work on. I’m also still doing crucible every day to save up for the 60 PVP set, and want to start on the 60 Daevanion set once I hit that as well. And then there’s the Beshmundir eternal set, which is pretty sweet as well. And Padmarashka. And then there’s the stuff in Sarpan. GAH! There’s just SO many things I want to do! :D
Yet another set of Balic skins
March 15, 2012 at 8:30pm
Earlier this week I finished 2 pairs of the level 50 cloth Dark Dragon set for Drackon’s sorc, Akiro, and MistahJay. The set is absolutely LOVELY on a female toon! I was expecting it to be red on MistahJay as well, but the purple works very well I think. Once I finish his level 43 expert set, I may skin this to it.

I’m also working on the 55 set, so I’ll be sure to post pictures when that’s completed. ^_^
I made something pretty :)

In my personal quest to master almost every craft (I can’t master Alchemy because it’s on Harley, and she’s already mastered Cooking), I’ve been spending a lot of time on alts lately, trying to level their crafts. Tailoring is currently closest to mastering, followed by Armorsmithing. I’ve been investing in Balic recipes to both level my crafts flipping the mats, as well as making stylish Balic items.
For instance, I’ve recently completed a set for the lovely Neurotic of Zikel. She provided me with the majority of mats needed for the level 50 chain Dark Dragon set. (she wanted the skins). I was able to complete this set this past weekend (all of the pieces were green, procs didn’t matter in this case) and she was kind enough to model for me to share with y’all:

I’m not sure how this set would look on a male, but would be happy to make it if someone were to supply the materials. ^_^
I’m currently working on the cloth set of the Dark Dragon series for Drackon’s alt, so hopefully I’ll be able to talk him into modeling when that’s done. :D
I’m a crafty momma
February 7, 2012 at 8:37am
My daughter first started playing Aion back in the Closed Beta days after watching my husband and I play. Even after my husband dropped Aion to go on to other games, she kept playing. It’s been great because it’s something that she and I shared in common and she knew she could always “talk Aion” to divert my attention or lighten my mood at any time, hehe. She stopped playing last summer because her best friend started playing another MMO so naturally Daughter wanted to go join her there instead of playing Aion. So after about 9 months away, she’s now decided she wants to play Aion again.
My husband and I always had a steadfast rule that whatever she played, she had to have good grades. Luckily for her, her half-9 weeks report came in last week and everything looked good. So this weekend I reactivated her Aion account and she then asked me if she could “re-roll like you did.”
I of course celebrated the idea and she created a new Asmodian toon on Zikel. She was so excited, all she talked about all weekend was playing her “new Ranger.” I spent a good part of last night mentoring her and helping her along the Ishlagen quests.
In preparation, I’d made a bunch of pots, foods, scrolls, and other necessities that I knew she would need. After all, I’m a proud momma and can afford to spoil my new little recruit! :D
Of course my husband was tickled by all this and points out to Daughter, “Well you know she can craft every craft now, right?” to which daughter squeals with glee and proceeds to whisper me in-game with a list of “I want’s.” LOL! Little did she know that I had already crafted her level 13 leather set, some level 16 upgrades, and a new set of level 15 swords. I’ve already started gathering materials to start on her level 18 leather set as she’s leveling quickly, and will look through my Handicrafter’s recipes to look for a decent bow to make after she’s 25+ … she’ll need something with some attack speed. ^_^
This is a screenshot of us in Aldelle Village getting started:

I’m so proud! *sniff* ^_^
Simply Siege Weapons
February 3, 2012 at 1:04pm
Although it was unintentional, I realized recently that having toons working on each available craft would come in handy. It seems my server has a shortage of Siege Weapons available, and I thought to myself, “Hey, that’s something I could do! Make weapons for our raids!!” Granted, it will take me a while, as I still have two more crafts that I’ve only just started and are a long ways from Expert. Plus, it will take a while to stockpile the necessary materials.
I was browsing through the Aion Recipe Calculator site and the idea struck me that I needed to go ahead and make a list of the necessary components to make each piece necessary to make a Siege Weapon. Then of course I realized that there are now 2 different types of weapons available to us, so I started noting the components for the Advanced Siege Weapon as well. I don’t remember ever seeing a “simplified” listing of materials and figured I would share here!
Below are the necessary components to assemble a weapon:
Siege Weapon — Siege Weapon Strut, Siege Weapon Ward, Siege Weapon Connector, Siege Weapon Mold, Siege Weapon Core, 2 Siege Weapon Fuels
Advanced Siege Weapon — Fine Siege Weapon Strut, Fine Siege Weapon Ward, Fine Siege Weapon Connector, Fine Siege Weapon Mold, Fine Siege Weapon Core, 2 Fine Siege Weapon Fuels
Sometimes you can find these components, already made, on the Trade Broker. But if not, here’s what you would need to assemble each part:
Alchemy
Siege Weapon Mold — 16 Aether Gems, 15 Greater Catalysts, 42 Greater Elemental Stones
Fine Siege Weapon Mold — 12 Magical Aether, 9 Fine Catalysts, 26 Fine Elemental Stones
Cooking
Siege Weapon Fuel — 20 Aether Gems, 23 Aether Crystals, 21 Aether Powders, 100 Natural Waters
Fine Siege Weapon Fuel — 15 Magical Aether, 13 Aether, 11 Aether Gems, 100 Natural Waters
Tailoring
Siege Weapon Connector — 16 Aether Gems, 4 Greater Leather Hardeners, 32 Sobi/Xilix Fibers, 8 Strong Rawhides, 16 Vivid Dyes
Fine Siege Weapon Connector — 12 Magical Aether, 2 Fine Leather Hardeners, 20 Prolix/Hoca Fibers, 4 Firm Rawhides, 10 Fine Dyes
Handicrafting
Siege Weapon Core — 4 Garnet Ores, 4 Lazuli Ores, 4 Moonstone Ores, 20 Aether Gems, 12 Greater Abrasives
Fine Siege Weapon Core — 3 Corundum Ores, 3 Elatrite Ores, 3 Turquoise Ores, 12 Magical Aether, 9 Fine Abrasives
Weaponsmithing
Siege Weapon Strut — 12 Adamantium Acids, 48 Adamantium Ores, 16 Aether Gems, 48 Fine Charcoals
Fine Siege Weapon Strut — 10 Drenium Acids, 36 Drenite Ores, 9 Magical Aether, 36 Mangrove Charcoals
Armorsmithing
Siege Weapon Ward — 25 Adamantium Acids, 45 Adamantium Ores, 20 Aether Gems, 45 Fine Charcoals
Fine Siege Weapon Ward — 18 Drenium Acids, 32 Drenite Ores, 12 Magical Aether, 32 Mangrove Charcoals
I’ve listed all of the components for both the Siege Weapon and Advanced Siege Weapon (‘Fine’ parts). If you have the ability to craft these, you can either make whole weapons to sell or use, or the parts that others can buy to assemble their own. Plus, you’ll be helping your faction! ^_^
Of course, you will also need to have the recipes for your craft already before you can start on these. You can buy the recipes from Teminon/Primum in Reshanta or your capital building (where you buy your 28-50 skills) in Sanctum/Pandaemonium.
Happy crafting! ^_^
How much is too much?
January 30, 2012 at 1:23pm
My husband and I were chitchatting about crafting in Aion. He had been an alchemist before quitting and going to Rift. I proudly told him that I had experted yet another craft (Handicrafting) and was close to mastering a second (Tailoring). He laughed and said, “You’re insane, woman!”
So, is that a bit much? Well, if you look at the sum of things, y’all might be inclined to agree with my hubby. I have a main and 4 alts. My main has 2 experted crafts — Alchemy and Cooking — and mastered Cooking. When I first rolled on Zikel, I had originally planned on having just Harley and chose to do 2 crafts for the things she would need most: food buffs and pots/scrolls. After finally deciding to forsake my Elyos and stay Asmodian, I decided that I missed playing an SM and so I made a Joker companion for Harley. To help with his leveling, I decided he should do tailoring so he can make his own gear. That actually worked out great. When he hit 30 I invested in 3 pieces of 30e PVP gear and he has 2 pieces of 30 Daevanion until I’m able to collect mats for the higher level expert and Balic sets.
OK so … another confession: I’m a hoarder. Special mats, recipes, gatherables. I keep almost everything. And with 2 toons doing 3 crafts I quickly ran out of warehouse and account warehouse space. So I created another alt … my Ranger. And then I thought to myself “Hey, why not have her Handicraft? It would be cool to make myself something shiny someday!” And so, yeah, that’s what she does. And she’s also my flux warehouse … because Harley and Joker both have full warehouses. And then my Ranger’s warehouse filled up, so I created another alt — my sin — who’s now also started Weaponsmithing. Then the announcement of the discontinued Veteran Awards came, so I created another alt (a Sorcerer) just in case I ever wanted to create one in the future who would already have all the rewards stacked.
And guess what? My sorc started Armorsmithing this weekend … because it’s the only craft left that I hadn’t already done.
o.O
OK … I “might” have a problem? Hehehe :)
Progress check!

Harley’s got her full Fenris set as of this past Saturday. I finished her shoulders grind, turned in the quest to get my quest to craft my Heart of Magic, and happily skipped to the warehouse to gather the materials I’d been saving for the last couple of months. It took two tries, but I proc’d my heart and received the Fenris legs. It took me not quite 3 days to gather the Lights of Luck for her chest piece. I opted for the “regular gathering” route and was able to sell off most of what I’d gathered. (Yay, money!) I’m now working on the Fenris weapon quest and am happy to say I’ve accomplished many of the things I had set on my “to do” list for Harley just a month or so back:
- Complete all Campaign quests — still working on this one, I guess I should get around to it one of these days!
Start and finish Fenris quests- Complete 40e PVP set — got my 3rd piece, saving up AP for the other two and saving up $$$ for enchantment stones!
- Upgrade PVP accessories — still need to do this one
Finish Expert CookingStart Master CookingStart Expert Alchemy (at 360 now)Start Expert Essencetapping (at 399 now, can’t do until 50)- Level Aethertapping (been slacking here!) — still slacking on this one, LOL!
- Change out stigmas to full DPS spec (most likely after 50) — um, yeah, not going to do until after I level … keeping a hybrid build for running with my b-dreg static
A a few other things I’ve added to this list:
- Do the Crucible PVP Arena — I try to do this every day, or save up my tickets for once a week or so and run them all at once. I can’t really use the insignias now, but when I finally hit 55 I will need them!
- Expert Handicrafting, then Master it — this is in progress and is pretty close :)
- Master Tailoring — I can’t remember the exact day I experted this, but mastering is going to be much harder!
- Attend more Balaurea sieges — with my dreg static, I haven’t been able to do this much, but will try to participate more in order to earn and save up plat medals, which I will definitely need later!
I love love LOVE my chanter. I’m playing my SM on the weekends, or whenever I see Fire Temple groups in LFG. I have a couple other alts, but they might be crafters only … or, I may change my mind in a few months. I’m allowed to do that. ^_^
For the most part, the Zikel community has been very warm and welcoming. As with any community, there’s the occasional asshat or complete douchebag, but that’s to be expected. And I still have my loved ones on Israphel. I still hang out every few days or so on Royal Flush vent and have logged onto my Elyos to AP dump and hand out mats to whoever needs them. Sadly, a handful of people are still resentful to me for rerolling. That, too, is to be expected I guess. But like I’ve said before, most everyone has been supportive of me. I love my friends, they’re awesome. :)
I’ll most likely keep grinding on my weapon quest until I finish that out. I took some time and updated my Alchemy and Cooking pages last night. It will most likely be a few more days until I finish Handicrafting and Tailoring. I experted Tailoring, so it has a ton of recipes and will be quite lengthy. I haven’t yet experted Handicrafting … and is another thing for me “to do” hopefully fairly soon. ^_^
Small start: tracking crafting progress online
January 13, 2012 at 2:33pm
I’ve had a couple requests from people asking me to post what recipes I have on which crafts, so during my lunch hour today, I started on just that. A few days ago I had taken screenshots of each of my toons’ crafting lists and was able to match up the recipes that I currently have with a quick search on Aion Armory. From that I was able to get a semi-complete listing of what I have (and comment out what I’m missing) and link to the corresponding entry in the Aion Armory online database.
So far I’ve only completed Cooking and Alchemy. I’m hoping to have Tailoring and Handicrafting done in a few days, as those are a bit more involved. Plus, I may level up an alt this or next weekend and begin a new craft to take advantage of the on-going Double XP events. ^_^
Speaking of crafting … I made a pretty!
January 6, 2012 at 11:04pm
I made something pretty on my spiritmaster:

It looks really cool, so I turned his helmet display on:

When I showed it to Drackon, he liked it so much he gave me mats to make one for his sorcerer:

Here’s a comparision of the proc’d vs unproc’d versions and a preview:

I like the fabled version MUCH better! :D
