New level, new goals

May 24, 2012 at 10:56am

A week ago tomorrow, I dinged 51. Last night, I dinged 55. I happily skipped to Panda to grab my skills, update my stigmas, put on my new wings and PVP set, and started my 55 advanced stigma quest.

What’s next?

I think I’m keeping my Tahabata staff for now. I have the Crucible PVP Level 2 staff, but need to combine it to something … just not sure what yet. I’ve also started grinding out plat medal dailies and will likely continue to work on those so that I can upgrade to the 55 eternal PVP accessories. NOM NOM!

And since my PVP set is full MR, I’ve started thinking about getting a PVE set. (not sure yet if I’ll go full parry, or a crit/parry mix). I’m thinking I need to level up my Armorsmithing on my sorc to make these:

Shiny! ^_^

I have maxed out Harley’s crafting, and still have her aethertapping and essencetapping to work on. I’m also still doing crucible every day to save up for the 60 PVP set, and want to start on the 60 Daevanion set once I hit that as well. And then there’s the Beshmundir eternal set, which is pretty sweet as well. And Padmarashka. And then there’s the stuff in Sarpan. GAH! There’s just SO many things I want to do! :D

Updated Siege/Dreg Timetable

March 30, 2012 at 8:15am

A big thanks goes out to Jambo and Nyx for putting together the following informational graphic for all of us, and a big thanks to Tydaron for posting the link to Twitter. ^_^

The following graphic contains the updated schedule for arena, siege, and dredgion times, covering server time (now CST) as well as other popular time zones.

What the Arena can do for you

March 7, 2012 at 8:35am

I was talking with a friend recently who’d just dinged 46 and while naming some suggestions for daily tasks, the subject of the Crucible Arena came up. He felt that because he was “low level” that doing the arena was pointless because he “couldn’t beat anyone.” I told him I thought that was bullnyerk and he doesn’t HAVE to win every match, but at least do it every day to get even the minimal amount of insignias. He then asks, “What good does that do me?”

So I linked him my latest investment for Harley:

That took me a about 4 months. I’ll most likely combine it with the Tac Officer’s Shakujo or something along those lines. Hehe, I think his eyes about popped out of his skull.

“WTF? How many did you win to get that?!!?”

I explained that I didn’t win them all, and even now I still get beat … a LOT. I suck at PVP and need the practice. :) The thing is to keep running it! I ran the crucible arena every day if I could, or saved up my tickets and ran several on one day. I told him 1v1 or Free-for-All, it doesn’t matter. Just pick one and do it, every day. If you’re under-geared or don’t have the time, fine! Just enter once the queue pops, and go make a sandwich. The rewards are worth it.

You earn Abyss Points, Crucible Insignias, and Courage Insignias for every match, win or lose!

If you’re level 46 or higher, be sure to get your Arena tickets every day and run either of them. AFK if you must, but get your rewards! The gear and weapons aren’t half bad, and great for those who can’t acquire a set by other methods. ^_^

Progress check!

Harley’s got her full Fenris set as of this past Saturday. I finished her shoulders grind, turned in the quest to get my quest to craft my Heart of Magic, and happily skipped to the warehouse to gather the materials I’d been saving for the last couple of months. It took two tries, but I proc’d my heart and received the Fenris legs. It took me not quite 3 days to gather the Lights of Luck for her chest piece. I opted for the “regular gathering” route and was able to sell off most of what I’d gathered. (Yay, money!) I’m now working on the Fenris weapon quest and am happy to say I’ve accomplished many of the things I had set on my “to do” list for Harley just a month or so back:

  • Complete all Campaign quests — still working on this one, I guess I should get around to it one of these days!
  • Start and finish Fenris quests
  • Complete 40e PVP set — got my 3rd piece, saving up AP for the other two and saving up $$$ for enchantment stones!
  • Upgrade PVP accessories — still need to do this one
  • Finish Expert Cooking
  • Start Master Cooking
  • Start Expert Alchemy (at 360 now)
  • Start Expert Essencetapping (at 399 now, can’t do until 50)
  • Level Aethertapping (been slacking here!) — still slacking on this one, LOL!
  • Change out stigmas to full DPS spec (most likely after 50) — um, yeah, not going to do until after I level … keeping a hybrid build for running with my b-dreg static

A a few other things I’ve added to this list:

  • Do the Crucible PVP Arena — I try to do this every day, or save up my tickets for once a week or so and run them all at once. I can’t really use the insignias now, but when I finally hit 55 I will need them!
  • Expert Handicrafting, then Master it — this is in progress and is pretty close :)
  • Master Tailoring — I can’t remember the exact day I experted this, but mastering is going to be much harder!
  • Attend more Balaurea sieges — with my dreg static, I haven’t been able to do this much, but will try to participate more in order to earn and save up plat medals, which I will definitely need later!

I love love LOVE my chanter. I’m playing my SM on the weekends, or whenever I see Fire Temple groups in LFG. I have a couple other alts, but they might be crafters only … or, I may change my mind in a few months. I’m allowed to do that. ^_^

For the most part, the Zikel community has been very warm and welcoming. As with any community, there’s the occasional asshat or complete douchebag, but that’s to be expected. And I still have my loved ones on Israphel. I still hang out every few days or so on Royal Flush vent and have logged onto my Elyos to AP dump and hand out mats to whoever needs them. Sadly, a handful of people are still resentful to me for rerolling. That, too, is to be expected I guess. But like I’ve said before, most everyone has been supportive of me. I love my friends, they’re awesome. :)

I’ll most likely keep grinding on my weapon quest until I finish that out. I took some time and updated my Alchemy and Cooking pages last night. It will most likely be a few more days until I finish Handicrafting and Tailoring. I experted Tailoring, so it has a ton of recipes and will be quite lengthy. I haven’t yet experted Handicrafting … and is another thing for me “to do” hopefully fairly soon. ^_^

I couldn’t help myself

December 31, 2011 at 7:55pm

I kept telling myself that I wasn’t going to play my SM “right now” and that he was going to just be a crafting and storage toon. But then he hit 27 this weekend, and for grins and giggles I decided to run him through Fire Temple. And then it happened — I had fun.

As much as I love my chanter, I can’t NOT play a spiritmaster. I’ve been playing MistahJay all last night and tonight and he’s just hit 30. He has 2 pieces of the 30 Daevanion gear and 3 pieces of 30e PVP gear:

I skinned his pvp chest with the 30 Daevanion chest and liked it so much, I found some matching gloves and semi-matching boots and skinned those. It’s not his purple suit, but I think he looks quite dashing. ^_^

So those of you who told me so, go ahead and say it … I know you want to! ;)

I love it when a plan comes together

I’d like to say a big “Thanks!!!” to those of you who offered advice on my 30e vs 40e dilemma I posted a little over a week ago. I was able to run Fire Temple in order to get the gold 33 set from the Dungeon Blitz event, so now I don’t have to worry about my gear for a couple more levels. I dinged 37 last night and plan to run Kromede’s Trial before Lower Abyss defense tonight. :D

I’ve acquired a few medals from previous sieges and will continue to do so until I have enough for my full 40 set. (My God, this is going to take forever! LOL) I decided I’m going to go ahead and get my 30e accessories because honestly they’re better than the 35 greens I’m currently wearing and the 40 greens I have waiting for me on a pet. They’re easy to get because I won’t need medals and the total stats are more beneficial overall.

With all the events going on, I haven’t spent much time on my main, but Harley is definitely going for one of the new “Level 2” eternal sets from the Crucible Arena. I’ve been logging in each day and doing the daily quest to get her arena tickets. I’ll run through the FFA over and over sometime tonight and use them all up at once. (FEAR EVERYTHING!!!!) ^_^

Part of me wants to get a MB set put together, just to see if I fair better having more destructive power. On the other hand, my high MA ensures I land all my CCs … but do low damage. I’m curious to see if I’d like having the other extreme on a PVP set. My Miragents was a solid mix of MA and MB and I fared pretty well with it. But having fears resisted irritates the really anal-retentive part of me. (OMG Y U NOT A GRAPE!!!!???)

:)

Anywho! There’s so much fun stuff to do right now. And I’ve been looking over the 3.0 Korean patch notes on the Aion site. We are getting SO many cool things in the next patch. New lands, new instances, a new level cap, new skills, houses, MOUNTS!!! I’m SO EXCITED!!!! :D

There has been a lot of information posted in various places, more than I have been able to keep up with, so here’s the sources I’ve been watching:

According to a Daevas Report tweet, Korea will be going live with 3.0 on November 9th. That means ours is not too far away! :D

Update to Eternal Cloth comparison

October 24, 2011 at 1:47pm

Hey y’all, just a quick update … I’ve updated a copy of my previous PVP Eternal Cloth Set comparison to include the eternal Stormwing set. (link) Feel free to check it out and let me know if you have any questions! ^_^

Should I or shouldn’t I?

October 24, 2011 at 9:36am

I spent the better part of this weekend on “Asmo Harley” and ran her through Fire Temple last night. She’s got 2 green pieces of armor and Rotan’s ring waiting for her. ^_^

I so LOVE playing this toon, and like I said before, it’s been a welcomed break. There’s been a lot of faction drama on Israphel, and I’m just sick of it all, so I’ve been spending all my time on my asmos (I also have a level 10 SM but haven’t done much on her yet) with the exception of playing my Elyos when asked to help out with something by my legion mates.

Here’s a shot of Harley and Drackon waiting on a legion mate to hop on and help us finish a quest. :)

Harleykinz and Drackon

I got her first piece of Daevanion gear last night, but am undecided on whether or not I want to level up 4 more alts just to get the rest of the set. I’ve done nearly 2 full Elyos sets and honestly am in no hurry to do it again. Instead, I’m thinking I may invest in a PVP set for her. Drackon and I go rifting every chance we get (and usually get rolled, LOL!). Plus, she’s got a lot of AP in crowns in storage from all the Veteran Rewards, I would just need to save up for medals. The real dilemma is which set to get … the 30 that she can wear now? Or wait and get the 40?

I know the 40e cloth is a great set for casters, but have no idea about chain. I’m leaning towards the 30 because I almost have enough to get the first piece (speed boots FTW!), but part of me wants to wait and see if the 40 would be a better investment. Any suggestions?

PVP Eternal Cloth Sets Analysis

October 22, 2011 at 2:04am

I’ve had my 50e PVP set for a little while, but haven’t put a whole lot of effort into enchanting it because I knew I’d be upgrading sooner or later and its purpose was to get me through until I acquire an eternal set. I now have my Stormwing eternal set, and with 2.7 hitting the live servers earlier this week, I’ve been checking out the new PVP armor available via the new Crucible arena the last couple of days.

There’s 4 eternal sets in total and the variances are slight … in fact, it took me several times looking at each piece to see the differences. To better decide which set to get, I started recording the stats of each piece of each set for comparison in a spreadsheet.

data sample image

I’ve also included the Guardian Brigade General series for comparison. (I believe the Asmodian equivalent should be the same?)

There are advantages to each set, whether it’s stats, cost, or what-have-you. There’s no set bonus like there are with the gold 30e/40e/50e sets, but I’m hearing that a 60e set is due in version 3.0 so I will be interested to see what kind of stats it will hold. Until then, my new goal is to acquire one of these eternal PVP sets! ^_^
