Aion to go Free to Play in NA

After dancing around the issue by NCsoft staff, today’s announcement confirmed what many of us in the community had feared — Aion is going free-to-play in North America. While this is great for many who would like to play more and do not have the means to do so, some fear this will cheapen the experience with a “pay to win” cash shop. Myself included there.
I’ll be honest, this doesn’t leave me with a shiny happy bouncy joy-joy feeling. I absolutely adore this game, but over the past few months I have seen friends and loved ones leaving in droves, and I know even more will do so with this announcement.
Will I stay? Will I continue this blog?
I honestly do not know at this point. For the time being, I think I will wait for the 3.0 release … but unless the community morale improves greatly, I foresee Aion suffering a slow and painful death.
And that thought greatly saddens me. :(
